To whom it may concern:
I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Vicki Gordon of the Global Soap Project (GSP).   Vicki was a guest speaker at the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) on August 11, 2011.  When I was charged with the task of organizing weekly speakers and events for MODA’s exhibition on bathroom design, I immediately thought of GSP. Our exhibition featured innovative, opulent bathroom fixtures and vignettes.  I was interested in presenting the contrast between the bathrooms that we have become to accustomed to in the United States with the problem of accessibility to clean water and adequate facilities that exists in other parts of the world.
Vicki immediately saw the connection between MODA’s exhibition and the GSP.  She was a pleasure to work with throughout the process of organizing the event.  She was very professional and proved to be an engaging public speaker.  She connected with the audience and held their attention with her sense of humor and effective use of visual aids.  She tailored her presentation to our patrons and presented the material in an accessible and relevant way.  The audience was captivated throughout the presentation and they raised several questions, which Vicki graciously answered.
In conclusion, Vicki Gordon is a professional and engaging public speaker.  With her background as a corporate executive in the hotel industry, she brings relevant experience and a unique perspective to her presentation.  I would have no hesitation recommending Vicki Gordon to your organization.
Sincerely,

Katie D. Simms

Dear Vicki:

I am writing to thank you for participating as a speaker in this fall’s Timothy C. Russell Distinguished Lecture Series in the School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management at the University of Denver.  Your lecture on October 15 was extremely well received by the students.  It was very powerful for them to hear from an executive at your level, particularly for the young women in our program who have had few opportunities to hear from senior executives who are women.

I waited until the close of the quarter to write this letter because I have now read and graded all the speaker summaries and final reflection papers written by the students.  They responded in their writing to your career trajectory, your observation about hiring outside of one’s comfort zone to create opportunities for others different from oneself, and all of the career advice you offered.  In particular, the need for them to be strategic, be clear about how they add value for the organization, to seek mentorship, and to network resonated.  They expressed confidence that your advice will have a lasting, positive effect on their careers.

Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our students.

Warmest regards,

David L. Corsun, Ph.D.
Director and Associate Professor

Vicki Gordon is one of the most creative people I know. Not in the usual design sense however, rather she has a unique ability to collaberate with corporate executives and create strategically relevent concepts and programs. Vicki is a game changer. Her gift of diplomacy is unparalleled at helping remove the many roadblocks and barriers that often doom otherwise great ideas. She is absolutely an essential part of any ambitious, high performing team.
